4 Answers Sorted by: 3 Bit of Nest history Nest often has a sub base issue. Usually the issue is contained to the cooling side. Rh is power input for the heating side. So that wouldn't be my first guess. Test Remove Rh and G and connect them together with a wire nut or simply twisting together.Just installed a new nest gen 3 learning thermostat on 01/14/2022 which went without a hitch and worked fine until this morning. I have two nest E thermostats since release and starting a couple weeks ago I get one losing power/r wire as well. Probably. That would be a furnace issues, not a Nest issue. Check that you have a clean furnace filter and no registers are blocked. But checking for a flashing LED at furnace is key.

I know the wired connections are good. I checked the RH Connector wire and it has a steady 27.4VAC. There is no longer any reason why this is keeps faulting out. E74. - No power to Rh wire detected. Check that each wire is fully inserted into its connector and that every connector with a wire is down as shown. Check that each wire has ⅜ inch (6mm) of exposed wire. Turn the power to your system back on and check to see if your thermostat is working. The furnace is working but is sending out faults and the exhaust fan is the suspect at this point. The Google Home app had indicated that the furnace had powered off 13 times in a 10 day period, which may have caused the E74 message on the nest.

May 7, 2023 · HVAC tech here, there is no universal fix for this problem, it can be many things. The code means your nest isn't getting 24v power from the heater. Could be as simple as a clogged drain that is tripping the float switch or as bad as a blown transformer. No it works for typical heat / ac just fine. If you are using Rh, you will connect to C, R and W at the furnace. And the Rh and W wires from the thermostat connect to the other side of the adapter. The Nest will be able to draw power across R and W. Y and G won't be affected.The triangle tube does not have a C terminal so only way is to get a wall plug in 24v AC transformer and then connect it to RC and C on the nest. Do you have any extra wires in the cable going to the nest?
